1JM Construction started the way most good contractors do, on a job site rather than in an office. Jonathan spent years framing, roofing, and finishing other people's projects, and kept running into the same thing: the work was fine, but the experience around it was not. Homeowners were left guessing about schedules, surprised by invoices, and passed between subcontractors who each blamed the last one.
So the company was built to fix that part. We kept the framing in house, because the structure is the part nobody sees and the part everything else depends on. We put one person in charge of communication, so there is always someone to call. And we started writing estimates line by line, so the number on page one is the number at the end.
Ten years and more than five hundred projects later, that is still how it runs. Additions, garages, kitchens, decks, and full renovations across Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Some clients call us back for a second project. A lot of them send us to a neighbor. That is the only marketing that has ever really worked for us.
